TCVN 5422:2012 System of documents for design – Symbols of pipelines

Preface

TCVN 5422:2012 replaces TCVN 5422:1991.

TCVN 5422:2012 was converted from TCVN 5422:1991 in accordance with Clause 1, Article 69 of the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations and Point a), Clause 1, Article 6 of Decree No. 127/2007/ND-CP detailing the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Standards and Technical Regulations.

TCVN 5422:2012 was developed by the Institute of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning, proposed by the Ministry of Construction, appraised by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality, and promulgated by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

1. Scope of Application

This standard specifies the simplified conventional symbols for pipes and pipe components in diagrams and drawings.

NOTE: The conventional symbols of pipe types shall be contained within their structures.

2. Dimensions and Conventional Symbols

2.1. The ratio between the length and base dimensions of symbols shall comply with the provisions in corresponding standards. When necessary, the dimensions of symbols may be proportionally increased or decreased.

2.2. To ensure diagram readability, the distance between any two adjacent symbols shall not be less than 2 mm. The selected dimensions and line width of symbols shall be consistent across all diagrams of the same type for a given product.

2.3. Symbols shall be displayed on diagrams at positions specified in relevant regulations.

2.4. To achieve the simplest diagrams, symbols are represented by rotating them 90°. In exceptional cases, symbols may be rotated 45°. This rotation shall not distort or change the meaning of the symbols.

3. General Provisions

3.1. The conventional symbols in this standard may be further clarified using numbers, letters, or both to specify the technical characteristics of the symbolized element. These symbols shall be explained on the drawing.

3.2. Conventional symbols for pipes and pipe components not specified in this standard shall be represented in accordance with the basic shape of the product.

3.3. Symbols for pipes and pipe components are specified in Tables 1 to 8.
