Open corridor
A corridor that on one side is ventilated to the outside through openings connected to outside air in case of fire, with a clear height from the top of the barrier at the edge of the corridor upward not less than 1.2 m.
NOTE: The size of the openings on the external wall of the open corridor ensures one of the following requirements:
– When the open corridor is separated from adjacent rooms by fire separating elements as prescribed in this Regulation, the total area of the openings shall not be less than 15% of the floor area of the open corridor and the distance from any point on the open corridor to the nearest edge of any opening shall not exceed 9 m, measured horizontally.
– When the open corridor is not separated from adjacent rooms by fire separating elements, the total area of the openings shall not be less than 50% of the floor area of the open corridor and the distance from any point on the open corridor to the nearest edge of any opening shall not exceed 9 m.
