Direct exit

A door or passage through safe areas inside the building (on the same floor as the direct exit) leading to the outside of the building (outside the enclosing walls of the building) to an open area where people can evacuate safely.

NOTE: Some cases can be considered as passages through safe areas inside the building leading to the outside of the building as follows:

a) Passing through an area with no fire load or low fire risk (for example, this area may have a reception desk, wood or metal furniture, floor lamps, or similar objects in limited quantities), this area is separated from adjacent corridors and rooms (if any) by type 1 fire partitions with doors having self-closing mechanisms and door gaps sealed, or separated by other equivalent solutions (for example: solution mentioned in paragraph b) of 4.35, or using fire curtains);

b) Passing through an open passage, ventilated to the outside (for example, open corridors, ramps), separated from adjacent rooms and areas by fire separating elements made of non-combustible materials with a fire resistance rating of at least El 30 for buildings of fire resistance level I, and must be made of non-combustible or low combustibility materials (Ch1) with a fire resistance rating of at least El 15 for buildings of fire resistance levels II, III, IV;

c) Passing through other areas considered safe for people.
