Temporary support structures used to prevent water (water may be allowed to enter but can be pumped out) when constructing works in areas with water and retrieved or demolished after construction is completed.

NOTE: Cofferdams are called by many different names in Vietnam such as sheet pile cofferdams, pressed sheet pile walls, water-proofing walls (in construction of transportation works), water-blocking dikes (in construction of irrigation works).
