Atrium
An empty space connecting two or more floors in a civilian building and enclosed at the top of this space (usually a large space, used for architectural purposes or creating commercial, service, business, exhibition spaces and similar. Openings on floors that are connected only for the purpose of staircases, escalators, elevator shafts, or utility shafts and ducts are not considered atriums). This space may be connected to building parts on each connected floor (corridors, rooms and similar).”.
